Oxford area higher education staff lgbt network

News (May 10) "Still queer after all these years? The importance of language in our fight for equality" In the second annual debate for Oxford Pride week, the Panel will be discussing the use of this word at the University Museum of natural History at 6.30pm on Weds 9th June 2010.  Check back for further details.

This Network is intended for all lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) staff at Brookes University, University of Oxford (and its colleges), and Oxford University Press. This includes post-docs, research fellows, academic, academic-related, and non-academic staff. Staff at other universities and research institutes etc. in the region are also welcome to join. Similarly, while the group is primarily intended for staff, post-graduate students are welcome to join the list and attend events if they wish.

Apart from the mailing list we organise social events and act as a clearinghouse for information which may be of interest to local LGBT members in Higher Education.  Our current popular event is "cheap eats" on the third Sunday evening of each month.  The organisation rotates among members and the event is normally well-attended in various economical restaurants in Oxford.  Join the mailing list if you are interested in coming along! (pictures from October 2008, all subjects appear with permission, pictures thanks to Gordon)

Cheap Eats normally take place on the 3rd Sunday of the month.  Email the coordinators for more information.

The Network email mailing list provides an easy way for subscribers to share information. For example, you could post details of forthcoming meetings or social events, request information about a particular topic e.g. pensions, adoption leave, civil partnerships, etc… The number of messages is likely to be small so your inboxes won't be swamped. Only those subscribed to the list will be able to send or receive messages and your email address will not be divulged to other list members without your permission.  There is also a Facebook Group for those interested in more interaction with other like-minded souls.  If you would prefer to join the secret facebook group (that won't show up in searches or on your profile) please contact Tony Brett

To join the mailing list, send a blank email to: ox-lgbt-acad-subscribe@maillist.ox.ac.uk You will then receive a confirmation message (this may take a day or two). You may unsubscribe from the list at any time. Please don't send anything other than a blank message to this address as it is impossible for the list coordinators to read it!  If you want to ask anything please contact any of the coordinating group below.

* Please note we prefer you to register with an email address ending in ‘.ac.uk’ although you do have the option of using an anonymous address for future correspondence. If you wish to use a non- .ac.uk address or have any problems registering please contact the list administrators.  *

We look forward to welcoming you to the Network.
